Feel like you're the only one? Think again!

Do you ever feel like you're the only one struggling with your particular habit? Or maybe you know there are others out there, you just don't know them, or know how to find them?

I recently guest lectured for a physician assistant psychiatry class. Out of the 29 students in this cohort, 2 of them volunteered info (unprompted) that they lived with someone who had a BFRB. And that's only the people who felt comfortable enough to speak up.

I remember when I started opening up about my hair pulling, the more people I told, the more I heard responses like, "oh, I do that too" or "I know someone who does that." My hair dresser, not 1 but 2 guys I dated, family members, and so on.

There are others out there who struggle with the exact same problem you have. Why not find them so you can feel less alone?

For the BFRB'ers out there, I host a free monthly online BFRB support group called Pick, Pull, Bite: Finding the Light. We meet the first Thursday of the month.

If you have a different habit, I encourage you to check for groups or other resources available for a sense of support and community. Whether it's compulsive scrolling, stress eating, or something else that you're struggling with, there are others out there who share your story.

Plus – not just knowing, but actually feeling like you're not alone is so therapeutic!
