How to skip the ice cream – without shaming yourself
I recently learned about Alyssa Nobriga and I was instantly hooked when I saw that her style of coaching was a beautiful blend of somatic and parts work – modalities that I had already been weaving together in my own coaching and therapy work.
Two weeks later, I was signed up for her year-long program to learn more about her methods and I can't wait for it to start! (More to come on that!)
She also has a podcast called The Healing and Human Potential Podcast, and I just listened to a really powerful episode that I wanted to share with you: Why Reparenting Your Inner Child Is the Key to Attracting Miracles with guest Olivia Amitrano.
The specific part I want to call your attention to starts at 33:10 (if I did the tech stuff correctly, the link below should start at there) and lasts about 2 minutes.
Olivia discusses her love of ice cream and how she navigates this in an emotionally healthy way – with plenty of compassion, but not letting her inner child run the show. (And if you continue watching past those 2 minutes, Alyssa will discuss her version of this that she uses for her affinity for chips.)
This is SO POWERFUL!
And while this example is about emotional eating (a very common stubborn habit that many of my clients struggle with), it can be applied to any habit or behavior that we feel stuck in.
I can't underestimate the impact of showing up for ourselves with compassion and kindness, and I think these ladies did a lovely job illustrating how it can be done.
